Rock Gathering

One of my favorite things is keeping a lookout for special rocks. I have rocks from all over the place, even Big Bear, California.
My best "finds" are the ones that have little "crystals" in them. I like them the best because they are shiny and pretty. The other rocks that I like to collect are the ones that look like they are already polished and smooth, like pearls. I keep my rock collection in a white dish tub under my bed. I have about 50 rocks right now. A few are fossilized plants and animals. There are so many different shapes and textures, that it makes me wonder how they were made. One fossil was given to me by a very special friend, Sandra. It was cut in half and polished. Someday, I hope to have a rock tumbler in which to polish rocks.
Maybe I'll hand my rock collection down to my children and grandchildren.
